Astrophysics of galaxies with active nuclei and X-ray binary systems (Dr. Marek Nikolajuk, Prof. UwB):

  •  accretion onto black holes (supermassive and stellar), radiative processes and spectral analysis of accretion disks,
  • time series analysis - study of X-ray, ultraviolet and optical variations of the mentioned objects,
  • analysis of broad emission lines regions (BELR),
  • “weighting” of supermassive black holes,
  • studies of Seyfert galaxies (BLS1 and NLS1),
  • studies of normal quasars (QSO type 1) and weak emission lines quasars (WLQ),
  • tidal disruption events of stars/planets by black holes (TDE),
  • tidal stripping of a white dwarf by a black hole - a fully quantum approach,
  • participation in the SST-1M mini-array (telescopes devoted to observe cherenkov radiation),
  • participation in the Cherenkov Telescope Array (CTA).

Astrometry and photometry of small bodies of the Solar System (Wojciech Burzynski, M.Sc.):

  • Studying the positions, sizes and shapes of main-belt asteroids and transneptunian objects (TNOs) by occultation.
