This presentation details the investigation of the lithium-rich cathode material Li2MnO3 and explores the prospects of utilizing spinel ferrite LiFe5O8 in lithium-ion batteries. Results from local structure analyses of Li2MnO3 obtained via X-ray Absorption Spectroscopy (XAS) will be presented, demonstrating the critical role of structural defects. Furthermore, the objectives of the ongoing doctoral dissertation will be outlined, focusing specifically on the synthesis and characterization of LiFe5O8 through diffraction techniques, spectroscopic methods, and electrochemical testing. These planned investigations aim to elucidate the impact of lattice disorder on the performance of these materials, thereby contributing to the development of advanced energy storage systems.
